casual & comfy living

I'm so blessed to have friends who call on me to help them with their interior design needs.  One of those dear friends recently purchased and remodeled a home and is now ready to get to work on the interior decor.  To start, we're working on the living room which we recently found an awesome Hickory Chair sofa for.  Although I haven't seen the new house in person, I have seen a couple pictures.  My designs were driven by a few key items:  her desire for a casual and comfy living room, the freshly painted gray walls, the beautiful gray and white marble fireplace, the existing natural jute rug, and finally, her strong want/need of a cowhide rug :).  Here's a few of the styleboards I put together (again, these are just based on the pictures I've seen so they are subject to change based off my visit tomorrow) using a number of key pieces and then changing up the accent colors.  Which is your favorite?!?

all styleboards:  sisal rug || cowhide rug || gray velvet sofa ||  yellow linen chairs || brass accent table || hammered coffee table
blue accent:  blue ikat pillows || gray chevron pillows
orange/coral accent:  orange and gold ikat pillows || gray chevron pillows || coral velvet pillow
gold accent:  gold & gray ikat pillows || gold ikat pillows

where the magic happens

I've had a number of people ask for more pictures of our home, so I thought I'd share our master bedroom.  We've had this same look for almost 4 years now (this design was created for our old house) so it is definitely on my redesign list but it works perfectly for now.

ready to dance!

Even though we couldn't pull a "W" against Duke in the ACC tourney, I'm still proud of how our boys have played this season and am excited to dance tonight :)!  #cardiacpack #ncstate

a trip to homegoods

I made a trip to Homegoods last week in search of a bench for our master bedroom (post on that coming soon), but got quickly distracted when I eyed a couple gorgeous coral lamps.  The problem was that it appeared they were on hold so I hurried over to the lamp section hoping to find two for myself.  Unfortunately, that left me empty-handed :(.  I sadly picked up a couple other items and headed to the checkout.  And then, as if it were meant to be, the lady who had the coral lamps on hold (I was still eyeing them....and now had realized there were FOUR!!) was checking out in front me.  WHAT?!?  You're only getting two?! YAY!!!  I quickly scooped up the other two, we cheers'd to our lamps, and both left estactic that we had scored such a gorgeous pair  :).

lantern reveal

Last month, if you remember, I posted about this lantern (here) but wouldn't give you any other details :).  Well.....drum roll please......I actually purchased two and they now live happily in our hallway.  Our hallway is long and the ceilings are tall (9 feet) making it the perfect home for these lovely laterns!

second chances

This morning, I gave yoga a second chance (it's been 4 years, maybe longer since I first tried it) and am SO glad I did!  I absolutely loved it and am dying to go back :).  If you're looking for a yoga studio and are in the Charlotte area, check out LeShea at Jenny's Yoga! So, in honor of second chances....

The last week and a half...

My apologies for being MIA the last week or so.  Let's recap.  Snowshoe, WV was a BLAST.  The weather could not have been more perfect (I'm talking t-shirt skiing weather) and the company left no shortage of laughter.

After returning home on Monday and playing catch up for a couple days, our dear high school friend (one of the snowshoe gang), found out he had lost his precious momma.  So, on Friday, after work, we packed up and headed to Little Washington, NC (one of the coolest places I've ever been) to celebrate D.J.'s life.  Please pray for D.J.'s family and friends, especially her son and our dear friend Buck and her beloved husband, Ray as they adjust to this life without her.  Pray for comfort and hope as they remember that one day they will live together again, but this time for eternity!
